If you’ve looked at the pictures under the “A Peek into Our Classroom” heading, then you’ve seen some of the fun activities that take place at All God’s Children. Although a picture is indeed worth a thousand words, it is also nice to see in writing the specific goals that the teacher is trying to help the children attain through these activities. Below is a list of State of Illinois benchmarks that will be focused on in the three and four-year-old classroom. This list is geared towards “whole class learning”. Children are also given individual attention based on their needs and interests.

 

LANGUAGE ARTS

1.A.Ecd – Identify some letters, including those in own name.

 

4.A.EC – Listen with understanding and respond to directions and conversations.

 

 

MATH

6.A.ECa – Use concepts that include number recognition, counting and one-to-one correspondence (Focus will be on numbers 1-10).

 

 

SCIENCE

11.A.ECa – Uses senses to explore and observe materials and natural phenomena.

 

 

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

32.A.ECa – Begin to understand and follow rules

 

32.A.ECb – Manage transitions and begin to adapt to change in routines.

 

32.B.ECb – Begin to share materials and experiences and take turns.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT AND HEALTH

19.A.Eca – Engage in active play using gross motor skills.

 

23.A.EC – Identify body parts and their functions.
